Random pictures from my iphone - Vol. 1

A random sampling of some of the weird, wild and wonderful courtesy of the magical iphone.

An example pic from the Lomo camera app I'm trying out. Not bad.

Another Lomo replica featuring Olivia hugging "fat cat" with her mask on. I find this a bit creepy.

Another Lomo replica featuring lovely isabelle

Hobbes thinks he's a cat and has the attitude to match.

It's time for: snuggling random puppies!

Kyle Pritzel was really excited about the Pizza.

This was taken with an iphone app that overlays multiple exposures (like an old-school film camera can)

From the early days of the internet...

Back in ye olden days (1995), The internet was chaotic, unorganized and companies were trying to find ways to make money off of it. Wow, look how things have changed! After college I was blessed to find work for companies designing web campaigns and artwork in the very early days of the web. A lot of the things I got to help with were parts of international ad campaigns for some pretty cool brands. Back then we had a lot of creative freedom because most execs didn't take the web as seriously as they did their print and television campaigns. The only bummer was that many times the technology aspects could be extremely limiting.

One of the best parts about working in a design studio with a bunch of freaky people was exposure to viral video online (waaaaay before it was called that) I remembered this little gem the other day and was lucky enough to find it. I do not know the back story or any details on where this came from but it still makes me laugh. In my imagination I see this as a sincere, heartfelt tribute from an older guy living in his mom's basement who has taught himself just enough in flash to be extremely dangerous. I also love his hilarious mis-heard lyrics for this. Watch it and see for yourself!

Props to Ramona for triggering this memory.

Lily Brown: Introducing Marie Watkins Oliver

My visit to the 3rd Grade Wax Museum

One of the best things about being a parent is visiting school to hang out with my kids. It makes me happy that my kids are actually glad to see me and proud that I am there to see them. Lily's 3rd grade class staged a wax museum where each studnet wrote a script, dressed in costume and gave a presentation regarding their famous Missourian. I got to meet Mark Twain, Walt Disney, Yogi Berra, Thomas Hart Benton, Josephine Baker and many other fine historical figures. My favorite was Ms. Marie Watkins Oliver.

Marie Watkins Oliver - designer of the Missouri State Flag

Each student was "activated" by a button when the viewer wanted to hear their presentation.

Afterward we had lunch together and I got to hang out with some fun kids.

I ate: Cheesy breadsticks with marinara sauce, fruit cocktail, green beans, Orange juice and an ice cream sandwich.

The Top 13 Videos from MTV's First Day | The Top 13 | www.thetop13.com

For those that remember back when MTV was "music television" here is a list of the top 13 videos from MTVs first day. "Once in a lifetime" is one of my all-time favorites. "Ashes To Ashes" by David Bowie has images in it that still haunt me to this day. Blondie, The Who and Elvis Costello also appear.

Update on Max - Thanks for praying.

Hey everyone, I have an update on Max. They are taking him off of pain meds today in order to remove the ventilator. Please pray for that as he will be in a lot of pain. He's responding by squeezing hands to communicate. He has a cracked left jaw, his left eye socket is fractured above and below, his wrist is cracked and he has a laceration on his right leg and a huge laceration from the back to the front of his head. His friend's pelvis and ankles are broken, and he also has lacerations.

Here's the news story. It shows the car. Needless to say he and his friend were VERY fortunate.

Evidence that demands a verdict

So we've been looking for the DVD remote from the multipurpose room for over a week. We got a call from the tips hotline and discovered this in Pastor Michael's office. Inquiring minds demand an explanation!

The Pleasure of Your Company: Military Etiquette and Grooming (1970)

The internet archive [http://www.archive.org] offers a wealth of free videos from our long forgotten past. I thought it might be fun to start unearthing some of these treasures and exposing them to the greater web. If you enjoy this, I may try to make this an ongoing series. For those that are fans of Mystery Science Theater 3000 [http://www.mst3k.com] you'll recognize many of these from their shorts compilations. It is my goal to someday download and remix a few of these.

Today we'll be viewing The Pleasure of Your Company: Military Etiquette and Grooming (1970) There is a lot of unintentional humor in this video largely as a result of the poor acting and overdramatized scenarios but it will make you chuckle. i welcome your comments.

A word to the iphone users...

My birthday was in December but I decided to wait until February for my Mobile contract to expire so I could switch to a new phone. After lots of comparison (and waiting for Google's phone to arrive) I finally settled on the iphone. I really like it a lot and so far things have been effortless in my transition. I can understand how this device could become indispensable for work, play, music, art and any combination.

So here's my question for the fans and fanatics of the iphone:
What are the best free/pay apps that you've found for the iphone?

Please share links to your favorite apps, tidbits about the best freebies out there and any other helpful tips you've come across.
